Four exciting races on day two, Tranquilo jumps on top

It was a challenging day for the fleet of the EUROSAF L30 Class European Championship with some rain, cloudy skies and 10 to 18 knots of Northerly wind in Balatonföldvár.

The breeze for today’s races was a little hectic with 20 degrees shifts and some light patches, it was no easy task to find the best lines on the course. It was the Ukranian boat Tardex with Andrei Tymosenko who managed the conditions best and won the first race of the day.

The next three races were dominated by the Hungarian crew of Tranquilo led by Miklós Rauschenberger. With today’s three bullets they jumped on top of the leaderboard followed by Team L31/Klaus Wagner (GER) and Team Orion/Ilya Kogan (ISR). Update – Present Perfect / Péter tenke is second overall after redress given for races 4 & 5.

Overnight leaders Present Perfect had an unlucky day with a crash at the first weather mark in the second race being the right-of-way boat. Their hull was badly damaged in the high-speed collision, they had to retire from racing. Present Perfect asked for redress for the last three races, Jury decisions are expected in the evening with 4 more protest hearings.

Outside of the busy Jury room, competitors were welcomed ashore by the local Helka Beer Garden and Brewery with their fantastic golden products. Later in the evening the fleet enjoyed splendid dinner in the Club Restaurant.

Three more races are scheduled for the last day of the Championship tomorrow, the forecast is more sun with fresh northerly winds.
